2019 has been an incredibly busy year for us, with Opening Doors Festival, the enormous Rwtsh Ratsh Rala Rwdins tour, substantial building work and an extended tour of Tempted to come – all of these helping to celebrate 30 years of Arad Goch! But there is more to come, including a brand new production…
News Now (working title) is an energetic new production that will tour to Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire’s schools soon. After discussing with education officers of the two counties, we became aware of the large amounts of children who have to cope with complicated experiences, relationships and lives.
Through various workshops and discussions with children at selected primary schools, we’ve had a glimpse of our audience’s worlds and what excites and worries them. The reactions have fed into our original idea, which is to look at the effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACE).
Before a completed production tours around Wales’ schools, the creative team behind News Now will take on an R&D phase to develop ideas. This will take place in December, with Jeremy Turner and Mari Rhian Owen directing an exciting young cast.
A mixture of familiar and new faces to Arad Goch make up the News Now cast; three performers with various physical performance expertise – Aaron William-Davies, Rebecca Wilson and Gruffydd Evans.
