Cwmni Theatr Arad Goch will be opening its doors to the public for a day of family fun and activities to welcome everyone to the new-look center. You can see the full timetable of the day below.
With financial support from the Arts Council of Wales through the Big Lottery Fund, Ceredigion County Council Community Grants Scheme and the Welsh Government Community Facilities Programme, the redesign and refurbishment of the entrance area of the building have now been completed creating an attractive foyer, exhibition gallery and flexible space which can be utilized for all kinds of activities. The highlight of the refurbishment is an art instillation designed and created by blacksmith Ann Catrin Evans which will adorn the front of the building.
On Saturday 21st September we will be opening our doors wide to welcome locals and friends across the whole of Wales to join us in celebrating the new look centre. There will be various workshops for children and young people, a story session for the young children and their families, a stage fighting workshop – and a Strictly Cymru session for everyone! There will also be a gig for under 17s to end the day.
We will also welcome Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas, Deputy Minister for Culture, Welsh Government and Mr Nick Capaldi, Chief Executive of the Arts Council of Wales to lead a reception and lunch before being given a free view of a special project by the company. The play Tempted has been developed in conjunction with the Office of the Dyfed-Powys Police Commissioner and will be touring Welsh secondary schools across Wales between September and December this year discussing sexual exploitation amongst young people.
“It is important that we as theatre artists have opportunities to work alongside our audience – children and young people. They are our inspiration and we can learn a lot from them. The opening of the new-look Arad Goch Theatre will enable us to create more creative opportunities for more people – both professional artists and members of our community in Ceredigion. I’m really looking forward to the buzz! ”- Jeremy Turner, Artistic Director
