County Lines

Moving drugs from one place to another …… sounds simple enough? It will be just like a game on the Playstation.

County Lines is a new production by Arad Goch Theatre Company that deals with County Lines issues – drugs, violence, threats and exploitation of young people and children to do all their dirty work. County Lines is a problem that affects the Welsh countryside as well as the cities and large towns. When a young person is misled into moving drugs, are they the victims? Or do they have to be held accountable for their actions?

“County Lines” is the criminal process of establishing a network for rural areas, where gangs can expand their drug dealing activities from their central base (usually in big cities) to smaller areas to make more money. To do this, they employ “runners” who are responsible for moving drugs and money. Telephone lines are used to communicate these plans, with “runners” often having a dedicated phone to do this.

Written by Mared Llywelyn Williams, the production will tour schools in Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Powys over the coming weeks
