About Us/Our department:
Cwmni Theatr Arad Goch are offering a 12-month Theatre Technician Apprenticeship in partnership with Wales Millennium Centre. A brilliant opportunity to learn the craft through a combination of training and support by Wales’ professional theatre teams.
The successful applicant will be based at Canolfan Arad Goch, Aberystwyth but will be employed by Wales Millennium Centre. The apprenticeship is operated in conjunction with Cardiff & Vale College, who will be the further education provider for the qualification side of the apprenticeship which leads to a BAIIB Certificate (Level 3) in Technical Theatre. Also, the successful applicant will receive a Bronze ABTT Award (specialising in rigging, ropes and knots and electrics) and will take on professional further education with ETC Connect (lighting desks), TTS Training (PAT Testing), Total Training Solutions (rigging) and Nationwide Platform (MEWPs) to name just a few.
An induction week will be held in Cardiff and possibly other weeks in Cardiff for basic “off the job” training with members of the Association of British Theatre Technicians (and other providers). Accommodation will be provided in Cardiff, if necessary. Apprentice technicians could also possibly swap locations to broaden their experiences too.
Please note, as is the nature of busy theatre work, the work hours won’t be 9am-5pm Monday to Friday! It is a full-time role (35 hours) and it will be necessary to work evenings and on weekends, so we encourage you to consider whether this type of work is suitable for you and also consider your transportation – is it practical and possible at the moment.
