The Yma a Nawr production is a production commissioned by Ceredigion County Council, together with Odd Arts Manchester, oddarts.co.uk to present Yma a Nawr or Here and Now in secondary schools in Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
Here and Now is a powerful, interactive theater experience that explores hateful extremism and radicalisation.
It is a strong performance that reveals complex issues in society related to the extreme right and international st or religious extremism. Participants then use the play to explore solutions and early intervention to prevent hate and harm from escalating. The intention is to use the performance within schools to change attitudes and behavior and reduce the risk of radicalisation.
It is a piece of Forum Theater – forum theater is a type of interactive play where a scene is presented, and under the guidance of an experienced facilitator, the audience can interrupt the performance to suggest and try alternative solutions to the issues raised in the scene. Audience members can step in to take the place of a character, or suggest that the actors do things differently, and the scene is replayed with the new action. This helps the pupils to understand the subject better – and to realize the implications and consequences of simple interactions.
